Refine the auto-suggest search interface results, and overall experience
In the existing Equator.com site, it was clear with minimal observation that the auto-suggest box needed some much needed upgrades to function as a user friendly interface that accommodates and anticipates the needs of the user.

To address this need I took a survey of how the leading home sites handled autosuggest. Across the board I found that nearly all of them operate with a very similar set of features. Based on my observations I made the follow recommendations for the autosuggest box to be able to elegantly handle the following “natural” input types:
1. Zip Code
2. Typos
3. Incomplete phrases
4. districts and neighborhoods
5. Ambiguous names. For example there are 41 instances of “Springfield” in the U.S.

To refine the user interface, and make a considerably more elegant and refined experience, I brought the mockup into Flinto and animated the placement and timing of every transition in an effort to ensure the development team could create this as intended.

Improve and modernize search filtering
Research point to the fact that most homes searchers look for a home by specifying a search area and the number of bedrooms. By removing the “refined search” panel from the default page view, which removes option most users aren’t looking for. This makes for much less information that the user has to add to their “cognitive load” and in turn, a smoother and faster user experience.
