YLIXR APP & WEBSITE

About
Ylixr is a discovery service for finding the individuals who offer the best service in their given field to customers. This is viewed as an alternative to finding high quality experiences by reviewing businesses. It’s also seen as a way for individuals to stand out and be recognized for their ability in their service jobs.

Toolkit

Discovery
Contextual Inquiries of staff at Vegas nightclubs, as well as the people who use their services provided the information needed to create the Ylixr Personas.

These inquiries were heavily focused on finding out how staff promote themselves, how they meet their promotional quotas, and what kind of promotional tools they are looking for.

Analysis

Key Findings:
1. This age demo falls into the range of heaviest users of Instagram.

2. Talent typically already had been promoting themselves online with pictures, calendars, and such.

3. These personas value reviews of their peers who are “real” people vs other kinds of reviews.

Ideation
Wireframe Development
Wireframes created in Axure defined the user experience and gave developers and the graphic designer clear direction to work from. The first set of wireframes above shows the process of exploring (looking for service people).

See Prototype

Affinity Diagramming
A small workshop was conducted to generate ideas for more features to add to the next set of wireframes. Ideas were sorted into Talent, End User, General Site Improvements, and a new category came out of this exercise: Businesses. The features that were added to the next round includes: flag inappropriate, curated lists, at bar push notifications, and activity feed.

User Flows
These flows were created to define the behavior shown in the wireframes accessing protected content and for registration/account editing.

Visual Design
A complete set of visual designs for each mobile and desktop page were created. Choices in color palate, typography, and photos are made to appeal to nightlife customers and service people.

User Testing
Before development, user testing was conducted on usertesting.com. One Key finding revealed that messaging needed to be improved to explain how the service worked. Another key ending revealed that customers were much more sensitive about rating individual people than rating businesses. Both findings affected minor redesigns before development.
